Humans

It should be noted that Humans are NOT native to Arlsyn and the feelings about this race are varied due to the difference between the different sub-races.

Dructhior - The Slavers

The Dructhior are believed to be of Turkish and Norwegian decent, the two nationalities mingling after running into each other on Arlsyn. Both nationalities were known for their invasions into other countries and it is thought that is possibly how the two came to Arlsyn. It is naturally assumed that the transportation took place in the middle of a large electrical thunderstorm that created a magnetic force field as it is the most common way those native to Terra were transported to Arlsyn.

Appearance: The Dructhior appearance varies from blond hair and blue eyes to black hair and black eyes, the norm being dark haired and dark eyed with pale skin. The majority of those that do have blond hair and blue eyes are women and are often sought out, bargained for and even kidnapped.

Way of Life: Despite their nomadic backgrounds, the Dructhior have settled into cities and towns through out Arlsyn, creating a network of ‘hubs’ that allow their caravans to go unaccosted.

The Dructhior are patriarchal that works off of a loose caste system in which warriors become nobles by victories in battle. After a certain mark is reached that family will no longer have to climb the social ladder. Most, if not all, of the upper-class families can be trace their tree back to their Terran blood lines and as a result do not risk being lowered from their high status.
The highest-ranking warriors are known as Chiefs and the next below them are freeborn women who enjoy a base of power and responsibility for family and economic affairs. It is also believed that they are the ones that truly control the society as a result.

Marriages are typically arranged and a daughter who does not marry the man that her father wishes is typically disowned, sold into slavery or killed out right. As a result of such occurrences blood feuds do occur, be it by the aggrieved intended against the family of the one that caused the woman to be disowned or the father against the family that caused the woman to be disowned and vice versa.

Lyonessens - The Warriors

Appearance: The Lyonessens vary in appearance due to their racial background before their ‘death’. The majority seem to be Celtic in origin with a mixed number of other Terran races, with the second majority being Asian and so on.

Most prefer wearing clothing from the period they come from and the type of amour they would have worn as well, if any.

Racial Traits:
The Lyonessens are immortal having been chosen for their skills as a warrior and offered immortality while their souls were in limbo. None are taken without permission by the individual.

Personality:
While being a race of warriors the Lyonessens do not go out and look for trouble nor do they create it. They tend to lead a normal life tending farms, hiring themselves out as mercenaries or guards or going on ‘adventures’.

Those that were more boisterous in their mortal life or come from such races are just as likely to start a bar brawl as the next person.

Relations:
Lyonessens appear human so as a result, are treated as humans generally are depending on the race that they are interacting with. Their actions with others, however, depends on the individual.

Language:
Languages are as varied as the cultures they come from, however everyone speaks Common (Terran English).

Names: Names depend on the culture that the individuals come from and as a result use names from their cultures to name their children, some, however, do use Arlsyn names.

History:
The Lyonessens were originally warriors predominately from different eras of Terra who were brought back to life before they were truly dead. The ‘race’ was originally created by Nyneve ben Drultagh who lived on Terra during the time of Arthur Pendragon. It is from this era that most of the Lyonessens are from.

Over time warriors from other nations were brought in as well, the reasons for those that are chosen is a secret that only Nyneve knows.

Rromani - The Wandering People

The Rromani are believed to come from Terra thousands of generations before present time Arlsyn via a random Gate. In common they are known as The Wandering People and act as traders.

Appearance: The Rromani complexion is typically a rich bronzish-brown while their hair and eyes are jet black, though it has been found that there are a few that come up with grey or even blue eyes and occasionally dark auburn hair. Height varies from Clan to Clan with the women being shorter than the men.

Dress is typically earth tones, usually in shades of tan and brown as it is less likely to show the dust from travel. Bright colours are loved but are considered impractical during travel.

Racial Traits: The Rromani and the Telepcal have a long history of intermarrying, this has resulted in the Rromani not being "true" humans any longer and have, more or less, become a race of half elves. Because of this they have an extended life span but do, eventually, die. However they lack the pointed ears common among the Telith.

Personality: The Rromani are known for their free spirits, easy to laugh and easy to celebrate.

Relations: The Rromani rarely have problems with the other cultures of Arlsyn and have been invited to be entertainment for royalty and are favourites at large city celebrations. They are one of the precious few, if not only, race of humans that the Taurësúlë willingly allow amongst them.

Religion: The Rromani have a highly developed sense of morality, taboos and the supernatural that come from their Terran roots but have adopted different parts of the ‘religions’ of Arlsyn and have adopted Thiert Wanderling as their patron and guardian.

Language: Their language has changed little over the years but is influenced by the Telepcal language and vide-a-versa.

Way of Life: The Rromani have continued their nomadic existence and have found the best way to do this is by becoming traders as it allows them to continue with tradition while making enough money to sustain them. They prefer to travel to villages rather than large cities but if they have to travel to a city they typically remain a healthy distance from the bustling metropolis areas. They do, however, attend many of the celebrations selling their wares as well as other cultures and dancing. When at celebrations their clothing are vibrant sprays of colour ranging from the deepest red to vibrant yellows and so on.

Shirshicks - Desert Nomads

The Shirshicks are a nomadic desert race, tribal in nature who live deep in the Urthel Desert.

Appearance: The Shirshicks skin colour ranges from dark brown to black that has been programmed into their genetic code from generations of living in the sun. Both men and women have a light build with men being slightly larger than the women and both are toned.

Their eyes are hazel with few exceptions, and have black hair; however both genders keep their head shaved and sport tattoos giving their family name and clan.

Clothing: The Shirshicks wardrobe does not vary very much between. What appears to be a skirt is, however, split in front and back that covers a pair of light pants worn beneath. Both genders wear a hood over their head, protecting it from the sun and offering an amount of shade.

All Shirshicks wear clothes that are predominately blue with men having more tan accents such as shoulder guards and arm guards. Women have more white accents to their clothing. However their shoulder guards are in blue and white while their arm guards are blue and tan.

Men wear a tunic tucked into their split skirt while women wear a cross between a corset and a tunic called a keenoff. The corset part is hardened and fitted to the individual and laces at four points, a vertical lacing under each breast and two that coincide in position in the back. The rest of the keenoff then falls to mid thigh and kept from flaring out by a belt at the waist.

Personality: The Shirshicks are coolly polite to outsiders, respecting them as guests. Within the tribe they are warm and loving but follow a strict code of honor.

Relations: The Shirshicks deal only with other desert races, any dealings without side races, such as trading, are done through the Urhini.

Religion: Religion is based off of spirits and elements rather than a pantheon of gods. Each Shirshick wears an amulet that is representative of the spirit that the individual is aligned with. Alignments are decided by the season that the child is born in and the star patterns at that time.

Names: It is not unusual for a Shirshick to have two, sometimes three names depending on their chosen occupation. The first name is that given to them at birth by their parents, their second name is when they pass the test given to them at maturity and the third is usually reserved for warriors and reflects their prowess in battle.

Tamajal

Appearance: The Tamajal are generally five foot six to five foot eight in height with golden tan skin. Hair colour is consistently brown and eye colour is generally grey, however it is not unusual for their eyes to have slight colour differences such as blue-grey, green-grey, and brown-grey. Facial structure is consistently the same as well as body tone. (See image at right)

Racial Traits: The Tamajal are a tribe of all women who do not welcome men in their beds. A genetic twist allows the women to impregnate themselves without the assistance of a second party. This phenomena results in each woman being a genetic duplicate of their mother.

Personality: The Tamajal are warriors, their culture similar to the Amazon’s of Terra.

Relations: Little is known of the Tamajal’s culture to the outside world as they are a reclusive race. They prefer to deal with other women, any man found in their territory is generally found later dead.

Religion: The Tamajal believe in who they call The Mother, a Goddess who shunned all men after being betrayed by her lover. The Mother taught the Tamajal that all men are deceptive and treacherous. Histories state that The Mother had two daughters through longing and each daughter was blessed with the gift of self-impregnation.

Language: The Tamajal language sounds a great deal like Gaelic, with its musical sound.

Names: Names are generally chosen to represent an emotion and element, such names as Crying-cloud, Brave-water are examples. While it is easy for the Tamajal to know one from another, they do have the custom of marking their names on their skin in the form of tribal tattoos generally located on the cheek just under the eye, or towards the outer area of the face.

History: The Tamajal are possibly the only native Humans on Arlsyn as their mythology of being the descendants of a Goddess is not far from the truth, however the actual circumstances of their existence has been lost to the sands of time, or any documentation has been ‘lost’. Occasionally a woman has been known to leave the tribes after falling in love with a man, these women are forever shunned if the woman chooses to return. If the woman is pregnant upon return, the tribe cares for her until the birth of the child. The tribe then raises this child and the mother leaves. The child is often raised ignorant of her mother’s name and because of the culture they are brought up in; do not search for her, as they are taught the cost of such leavings. The tribe does not shun the child, as they do not blame the child for the mother’s choices.

These circumstances also are the reason for the differences in eye colour, however their genetic makeup is so strong that it overrides any genetics that are brought into the blood.
